At Avenues Early Childhood Services, we’re proud to offer SEED (Social and Emotional Early Development) — a statewide program providing free Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (IECMHC) services across New Mexico.

SEED pairs licensed mental health professionals with early childhood educators and caregivers to foster healthy social and emotional development in children from birth to age five.

What is SEED?

SEED is a relationship-based, trauma-informed consultation service designed to:

  • Strengthen social-emotional growth in young children

  • Support teachers and caregivers in responding to challenging behaviors

  • Promote emotional wellness in early learning environments

Consultants work collaboratively — not as outside experts, but as trusted partners — to reflect, strategize, and support the unique needs of each classroom or child care setting.

What Can SEED Help With?

  • Reducing expulsion and suspension in early care settings

  • Supporting children with behavioral or developmental concerns

  • Enhancing family–educator communication

  • Increasing caregiver confidence and well-being

  • Promoting aligned, reflective teaching practices

  • Reducing teacher stress and turnover

The outcomes are clear: stronger relationships, more resilient classrooms, and thriving children.

 How It Works

  1. You make a referral – Fill out a short form

  2. We connect you with a consultant – Based on your needs

  3. You collaborate – The consultant joins your team, not your staff

  4. You grow together – Reflect, learn, and strengthen your support

The service is voluntary, confidential, and strength-based.

Research shows IECMHC programs like SEED help:

  • Prevent challenging behaviors before they escalate

  • Improve school readiness and long-term outcomes

It’s not just about behavior — it’s about relationships, trust, and sustainable support.
